Khatwa Competition for improving job quality

Khatwa competition provides technical and financial support for the best proposals and ideas of projects proposed by companies and company groups to improve the job quality to be able to implement these ideas within their companies or common places (eg in the industrial park or the industrial zone) and thus encourage companies to improve work conditions while at the same time and achieve economic benefit through employment retention and also create better job opportunities within the technical and vocational sector in the labor market.

ZAD Pharmaceutical is a company located in Suez with a population of 100 employees and working in the field of pharmaceutical productions.
The company is located a little outside of the city and carries a high number of female workers. On the other hand, this is accompanied by a high turnover rate. The female workers would quit their work once they have a child.

Project Idea: The project involves building a nursery for the children of the female workers and a cafeteria for the workers. It aims at empowering working mothers and improving the work space.

ATOS is a company located in Ismailia with a population of 156 employees and working in the field of Energy and Generators production.
The company employees were suffering from 2 main problems:
1- The high temperatures in the manufacturing halls. The summer would be a difficult season for the production and would sometimes result in high number of absences.
2- There was no dedicated area where they would be able to eat lunch or spend their break time.

Project Idea: The project entails building a cafeteria for workers and installing a heat insulation ceiling in the working hall. It aims at providing a decent work environment

This company was trying to work hard on the development of its employees. They had a training plan set but were struggling to find a space to accommodate such training and development path.

Project Idea: The project consists of constructing and equipping a training hall for the employees and workers of the company. It aims at developing the soft skills of employees and fostering a learning environment.

Umm El Korah: Improving Working Conditions and Environment

Umm El Qura is a company located in Suez with a population of 22 employees and working in
the field of Maritime construction and repair.
The company’s main work involved providing ship repairmen in the water (not on shore). This means that workers need to spend long periods on Catamaran without any proper facilities (bathroom, break area…etc.). In addition, ships wouldn’t allow them to use their facilities onboard either.

Project Idea: The project consists of converting an existing two-hull catamaran into an integrated working/accommodation platform. It provides decent and safe working conditions.

High Teach Oil is a company located in Ismailia with a population of 30 employees and working in the field of Oil and Grease production.
The company is located in Western Qantara which is isolated and has limited resources. This meant that employees need to commute for long periods of time or be isolated and find a rental in isolation.

Project idea: the project consists of constructing a fully equipped accommodation building inside the company premises for workers. It promotes the importance of the psychological well-being of workers.
